Do you think that Michael Richards' comedy club rant was a racist outburst?

Yes. An angry outburst is calling someone an MF, an A**hole. He purposefully used a racial epithet and recalled a method of lynching. He would not have done/said either if the hecklers had been caucasian. He did this and then tried to excuse it by saying he was angry, this was more than anger.Do you think that Michael Richards' comedy club rant was a racist outburst?
of course, it wasn't just the fact that he used the n word, it was context in which he used it. he referenced a horrible tragedy that an entire culture suffered. now if he would've used a stereotype, he could've possibly gotten away with that: blacks are lazy, hispanics have alot of kids, jamaicans have 5 jobs, whites steal and connive their way to the top, etc. but he talked about something that changed people's lives forever. there's a major difference.Do you think that Michael Richards' comedy club rant was a racist outburst?
If it is, than nearly everyone is racist.
Would we even be having this discussion if he were black and the hecklers were white?

Nuff said!
no. how is it any diffrent from what other comedians do? i was watching a chris rock stand up yesterday and cut it off half way thru because i was getting offended at the way he was descibing white people. it is no diffrent. so he said it directly at them big freakin' deal. i wonder how many times those ladies have used the same words when talking about other people? people always think it is funny when they do it, but when the shoe is on the other foot they get mad. get over it. it was not racial he was just pissed an i am sure we all have done something or said something when we were pissed that we regreat. i still love kramer. anyone who disagrees with me can bite me.
No. It was a psychotically angry outburst. He was clearly struck inarticulate, and was just raving, repeating the same word over and over. He kept saying the n word, but if it had been women in the audience disrupting, he would have used the c word. Ya know? It was just an angry nasty acid rant. Living in our culture, he has of course heard the word. But I don't think he ever uses it outside this context.
No.

But if it was... WHO CARES. I didn't see anyone cry over what the black guy called Richards. ';White *** cracker!';
No
Not at all.
offended ones are looking at collecting $$$$$.
I wanted to get past the media hype and see it for myself, so I did some research and found it online and watched it. It was definitely a rant. Racist? Possibly. He was definitely pissed off that his act was being interrupted and he wanted to hurt these guys, piss them off, and shut them up. He knew the ';n-word'; would do that. Does that make him really a racist? I don't know, and you'll get all sorts of polarized opinions on that.

What I didn't get to see, and probably what we never will get to see, is just what the hecklers were doing that pissed him off so much. That I would have liked to have seen also. What I saw was what someone captured on their camera phone, and the interruption that started the whole conflict was not on the video clip, just Richards' rant. Not saying Richards was justified, I just wish that what the other guys had done hadn't been censored.
