I would love to get a feminist perspective on this.People on YA! often rant about welfare MOM's and say they should be forced to get their tubes tied...cont.?
Your suggestion is about as reasonable as theirs (which isn't very), but I assume you were just satirizing. People who can't afford kids should have the common sense to do everything in their power not to have them. Barring that, I'm starting to think we should seriously consider parenting licenses.People on YA! often rant about welfare MOM's and say they should be forced to get their tubes tied...cont.?
I think to be honest traditionalists are too busy attacking the welfare state and feminists for causing lone parenthood and the man becomes invisible when it is in fact his prerogative to not take care of the child. They try and debase social programmes as state control when the breakdown of the family makes control more costly through crime. This hides the underlying wish to return to a social bond which coerces people into traditionalist family forms or outlying such as by way of laws. This involves taking the man of the cross and realising he is also complicit in ';welfare queendom'; and that his knob is responsible for the social problems as much as the womans womb is. Its an ideological conciet which means that a return to their ideology means more oppression for men and women by forcing them into social structures which they have both left behind. They do this at the expense of alternatives.
Sorry I do not qualify as a feminist. I just thought I would add some enlightenment.
I am a man who had a vasectomy and never had children. On top of that I still use condoms. I want to ask this..... Why do potential ';welfare moms';, have sex with such lame men that are not responsible like I am? Would it not make sense to not have sex with men that have children with more than two other women, are chronically unemployed, or have drug problems? Or is it because men like myself would not have sex any female equivalent to the men mentioned above. In other words I think perhaps the men who impregnate welfare moms are just as lame as the welfare moms themselves.
Another thoght: Now certain special interest groups have invented a fake disease called ';Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome';. They now claim that a vasectomy is dangerous to the mans' health. They are using this as an excuse to thwart the idea that you are suggesting.
Well now that Welfare is going to be much easier to get and stay on due to a piece of the ';stimulus '; plan....yes. If you have more 4+ children and are on Welfare it you should be forced to be restricted not to have children. Now, I do not think having tubes tied is the right answer....that is too severe, but perhaps Depo, or the loss of the Welfare if you get pregnant again would suffice. I am not sure what they should do with men, but similar laws should apply.
No, no one should be force sterilized. This is very dangerous ground you are treading upon. This idea is very racist in that it specifically targets the poor, and the poor more often than not tend to be...black. The gov't has no right whatsoever to force surgery on anyone, for any reason. The state of Florida has no right to castrate 2nd time rapists either, even though they are a rather disgusting lot. When you start to target the vulnerable or outcasts, it will eventually lead to more and more types of human rights violations. Perhaps these women should be censured through a reduction in their free taxpayer money, or cut off completely, but not forcibly sterilized. Sounds very Orwellian to me.
What do you want to hear? Go ahead and keep having more babies and getting bigger welfare checks? Keep prowling around the trailer parks and government housing and knocking up the poor? Maybe the MEN and WOMEN should take responsibility and consider condoms and/or family planning. Is marriage even an option for those people anymore? In a free society like the USA for example, they cannot just drag you off and plop you down and start operating to ';fix'; you. I'm saying that it's the welfare system itself that needs to continue to be looked at. Minnesota is on the right track but could go even further I believe. I work very hard and pay a TON in taxes every year. I don't mind helping out with people that are in a tough spot for now. But I DO mind supporting people that refuse to work because they are lazy and use welfare as a career choice. Now I'm ranting. lol
i don't think men deliberately get women pregnant so they can get free housing and benefits so apples and oranges.
forcing people to get sterilized is a horrible idea but im pretty sure that we'll see it happening in our lifetimes.
Rio how can you of all people support eugenics?
Welfare is everything our society is all about today.
No responsibility for your actions. Someone else will take the blame or pay the price. Why would it change.
I am not against people who use it for what it is intended for but they are few and far between.
I work two jobs. Yes, some people need help for a period of time, until they get back on their feet. But I am tired of people who go out and get pregnant intentionally just to get the check.
The harder I work the more is taken out in taxes. Go figure!
so shouldnt the welfare MOM's know better of their situation?
why do you take the responsibility away from the women.
are you trying to imply that the welfare moms are a dumb piece of sh*te?
how offensive?
Men that fail to take financial responsibility for their seed should have their nards cut off.
I think men should provide for their children and not me, the taxpayer.
yeah they should alot of men run off as soon as a woman gets pregnant.
